  • My ears are not symmetrically placed.

My ears are not symmetrically placed. And, I wear glasses. So, it always looks like my glasses are crooked. I’ve tried to bend the glasses to make them crooked so they will look straight, but I’m afraid I’ll break them (and glasses aren’t cheap).

I got purse dialed from someone, since I have my phone on silent while at work I didn’t find out until later when I read the text. Sadly, had she not told me it was an accident I would have been excited ’cause I thought a friend called. Yeah, it’s kind of lonely moving to a new town and having no money to go out. (Monday! I get paid on Monday.)

Survived walking to work in the snow. Will be much easier once I bring my heavy winter coat back with me over Thanksgiving.

  • Comments Syndrome

In general, on the internet (and sometimes, specifically here) I find that the comments to posts, articles, etc. are often more interesting, entertaining, informative, or amusing than the initial post/article itself. I call it the Reddit syndrome. (Reddit in and of itself, with it’s weird hive closed-mind, is another topic altogether*)

I’m not necessarily talking about the trolls, though, I forgive trolling if it is genuinely funny and not too harsh. But, I’ve found there are certain sites I go to and read headlines, maybe the first paragraph, and then dive into the comments. Even when I do read the entire article I still generally end up spending more time reading the comments. And that’s not even talking about the political sites (which I’ve read both extremes…and the comments there make me sad, it’s no wonder we can’t have a collaborative government) where the back and forth can go on and on.

Are there any sites you go to where you find the comments more entertaining than the site content itself?

*and one I generally avoid, because it isn’t worth fighting with the bf about…

  • Moving Time

The U.S. Postal Service no longer has change of address form available at the post office, instead they want me to go online and change my address.

I love this idea. The execution, not so much. Every time I click the link to change my address I get an error message, problem loading page. I’ve tried from several different links, including Google. Now I get to go up to the post office, and wait in line to ask for a form. Which would be fine if I weren’t sick and trying to pack, oh, and hadn’t already been there once to get a change of address form.

  • Back Down the Rabbit Hole

Two years (plus 4.5 months) and I am going back to my old company. Denver this time.

I’m excited, but I only have a week and a half to get there, so, I’m just a little freaked.

The bf is going to move after the first of the year, we’ve been living together since April, so, two months, will be breathing room, yet, I miss him already. I guess that’s a good sign.

I realize I stopped blogging consistently about the time the guy (not Guy-who-needs-to-take-his-shirt-off) and I got together. I guess I was busy navigating the relationship waters, and wasn’t in a place to share. It’s been a tough two (plus) years since I left San Francisco. But the perspective has done me some good. I’m looking forward to getting back into the groove, both of work and blogging.

  • Confessions of a Social Retard

    I hated high school.

I had friends, and I wasn’t bullied, but I did not fit in at all. (I know, color you surprised.)

And, now, thanks to facebook, some of those people are haranguing me to go to our reunion. I don’t want to go.

I’m trying really hard not to RSVP vehemently…so, I’m kind of ignoring it.

  • High Fructose Corn Syrup Free in 2010

Punky is attempting to go High Fructose Corn Syrup free for the upcoming year.

    Period.

Okay, well, on the rare occasions I eat out, I’m not gonna sweat it. Though I will attempt to order things I think are HFCS free.

It isn’t that I am worried about cookies or other sweet treats, it is the things that are supposed to be not sweet. Have you read the labels on your savory treats lately? A lot have HFCS. No one needs that much sugar content in their diet.

I thought about going Paleo…but I like rice & pasta…and milk & cheese, so…I’m going HFCS free instead. I eat a lot of fresh vegetables, especially peppers, because I am a genius at growing peppers. I even like corn in and of itself (give me corn tortillas over flour 75% of the time), but HFCS seems to be the worst of corn all wrapped up in syrupy-baddness. So, I am going to attempt to completely eliminate it from my diet.

I hope this goes better (or at least longer) than when I tired to to buy things that weren’t made in China*.

*I have nothing at all against the Chinese people or culture, but I am a little afraid of how much of our country’s debt is owned by the Chinese government.

  • Look! Under that bus! It’s me!

Really hate working with people who tell you one thing and someone else something else, then blame you for their conflicting information. Thank TPTB I learned my lesson in corporate America early, save your emails, they help get you out from under buses when people throw you under them.
