High Fructose Corn Syrup Free in 2010
Punky is attempting to go High Fructose Corn Syrup free for the upcoming year.
Period.
Okay, well, on the rare occasions I eat out, I'm not gonna sweat it. Though I will attempt to order things I think are HFCS free.
It isn't that I am worried about cookies or other sweet treats, it is the things that are supposed to be not sweet. Have you read the labels on your savory treats lately? A lot have HFCS. No one needs that much sugar content in their diet.
I thought about going Paleo...but I like rice & pasta...and milk & cheese, so...I'm going HFCS free instead. I eat a lot of fresh vegetables, especially peppers, because I am a genius at growing peppers. I even like corn in and of itself (give me corn tortillas over flour 75% of the time), but HFCS seems to be the worst of corn all wrapped up in syrupy-baddness. So, I am going to attempt to completely eliminate it from my diet.
I hope this goes better (or at least longer) than when I tired to to buy things that weren't made in China*.
*I have nothing at all against the Chinese people or culture, but I am a little afraid of how much of our country's debt is owned by the Chinese government.

Most all of us need to eat more whole foods and waaaay less syrupy-badnes. I wish you good luck in your quest! <- That was sincere, it just sounds sarcastic.
@AnonymousXGrl - actually, didn't sound sarcastic...guess it all depends one's POV.
@PunkDiva - After I read it, I thought that "good luck!" might sound like "ha! you'll never do it" and that's not what I was trying to say so I threw that comment in for good measure.
hmmm...now you have me thinking about all that crap I've been putting into my body. Some things that I probably never thought about. I don't think I'll jump on the band wagon with you, however, I will be more aware and try to cut back as much as possible. It's a great idea!! Happy Holidays!!
Dascha gave up sugar around the time I moved here or shortly after and she dropped almost 3 sizes.
good luck darlin!
Good luck with this! I think it is admirable, and please keep us updated on how it is going. You are very right in regards to the amount of stuff that is in our everyday preprocessed foods! I'm glad I garden, and would like to try and do more whole foods and my own canning (when I get a new stove) so that I know what is going into my, and my family's bodies!
@Naineh - Oh, we should compare canning techniques and recipes.
Stopping by to wish you a Happy New Year!
All the best in 2010 sweetie xoxo
Speaking of food, and China:
Adult to 7-year-old, as Chinese food is being served: Finish your plate. Think of the starving Chinese, who would be grateful for a plate of food.
7-year-old to adult, as he takes a taste: Ugh. No wonder they're starving.
Here, I do not really consider it will work.
